Abalos Sísmicos Sentidos na Região Meridional do Brasil em 1982
Abstract
This work analyses the data of three seismic events which occurred during 1gB2 in southeastern Brazil, at Varginha (MG), Mendanha (RJ), Caconde (SP), and one in Paraguay near Asuncion. The event felt at Varginha, on March 19 (intensity lV Modified Mercally Scale), and the one felt at Mendanha, on March 22 (intensity lV-V MM), were not recorded by the seismographics stations operating in the region. The earthquake felt at Caconde, on May 2 (intensity V MM), was recorded by nine-stations of the local seismographic network with magnitude about 3,0. The earthquake of Paraguay which occurred on April 8, felt at Asuncion with intensity Vl MM, was also felt in neighbouring of the Brazilian territory. lts epicenter and magnitude (mb = 5,0) were determined by the international Seismological Centre (lSC) using the international data from 52 stations, including some of the Brazilian network.
