Precipitação de Elétrons Energéticos na Anomalia Magnética do Atlântico Sul para Baixos Valores de "L" e sua Relação com a Atividade Geomagnética
Abstract
A review of measurements dealing with precipitating energetic (100keV) electrons at low L values (<2) of the South Atlantic Magnetic Anomaly is presented. Among them we include those obtained at São José dos Campos - Brazil (geographic coordinates 23°12'S, 45°51'W, L≈ 1.13) on April 14 and December 18, 1981, in which X-rays detectors on board stratospheric balloons were used. After a discussion of the physical mechanisms responsible for the precipitation process during magnetically calm periods, an effort is also done to identify possible mechanisms which could be responsible for intensifying the precipitation during magnetically disturbed periods.
