Medidas de O3 no Amazonas: Primeiros Resultados

V.W.J.H. Kirchhoff, J.R. Alves

Abstract

A special ozone measurement campaign was performed during July 1985 in Manaus (30 S) as part of the NASA Global Tropospheric Experiment (GTE-ABLE-2). Surface ozone measurements were made using two independent sensors. One of these was kept fixed and the other was moved to several nearby sites, including the forest. Vertical profiles of ozone in the troposphere and stratosphere were also made using ECC sondes. Of special interest are the findings that surface ozone falls to almost zero ppbv during the night a feature apparently unique for the Amazon. The ozone concentrations in the whole troposphere seem to be smaller than average values obtained for Natal (6°S).
