Estudo da Hidrologia e Evolução das Massas de Água na Laguna dos Patos através de Imagens MSS-LANDSAT

Abstract

This paper is part of a research program to obtain information on the Hydrologic characteristics of the Lagoon of Pathos and estuary, as well as to analyze the impact sediments on the estuary and adjacent coastal zone. Another aspect under study is the seasonal evolution of the water masses coming mainly from the northern part of the Patos Hydrologic System and the estuary level, to the São Gonçalo Channel. The results obtained are based on visual photo interpretation of 26 satellite images of the MSS-LANDSAT series, Band 5, over a period of five years: 1979-1983. According to the distribution and the occurrence of solid particles in suspension (plume) associated with both the precipitation in the drainage basin of Lagoon of Patos and the main groups of winds in the region, the results were classified into five classes, which characterize the more general situation in respect to the Hydrologic and sediments impact on the Lagoon, estuary and adjacent coastal region.
